Where did we go wrong? I am pretty sure I have a good idea where to start and that would be the lack of strong morals and a respect for authority. I also feel that we have lost a grasp on what the "American Dream" really is. Yes the "American Dream" is to own your own house and car and live a successful happy life with a family. However now we see people living in a home with a payment they can not afford and driving a car that is one missed payment away from being repossessed. Is this the "American Dream" that our parents and grandparents worked so hard to achieve? No it's not even close. I have a friend who is driving a brand new Cadillac SUV, it is a very nice car and he takes very good care of it. However I find our conversations always leaning towards money or the lack there of. When I ask him if he has ever considered selling his SUV to get a smaller vehicle with a car payment that he can afford. I get a response of shock and disgust that I would even consider that an option. Now yes he does have a job and he does work everyday however because of this choice he now has to collect state a federal aid. Would you consider him a good candidate for these handouts? NO it is his choice and his doing that has put him in the state he is in. It is people like this that continue to feed into this big government machine that is dragging this country down one handout and poor choice at a time. We have not inherited this country from our parents, we are borrowing it from our children..............
