So I was planning on starting this blog with an issue
that is affecting every American citizen which is the atrocious National
Defense Authorization Act of 2012 (NDAA) or what many like to refer to as the
Indefinite Detention Act. This is a very important issue and I have just
found out that another, even more anti-American act is being pushed through Congress,
which is being called the Enemy Expatriation Act (HR 3166 in the House and
S.1698 in the Senate). In the next few days I will get more information
on this and publish what I've found on this blog.
In the meantime, today is the South Carolina
Republican primaries. Results are in and Judge Andrew Napolitano, author
of the new book "It's Dangerous to be Right when the Government is
Wrong" and host of Fox Business Channel's "Freedom Watch"
remarked, "Congratulations! Today is a major victory for Progressives
in both parties!" That's right, the people of South Carolina have
spoken and they want to be led into oblivion with a Republican statist to
replace the Democrat statist in the White House today! Newt Gingrich wins
it with 40%, Romney in a distant second at 28%, followed by Santorum at 17% and
Ron Paul at 13%. I was reminded today of a chapter in the Old
Testament that is VERY relevant to what we are seeing today.
1 Samuel 8:1-22
Israel Requests a King
1
As Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons to be judges over Israel. 2
Joel and Abijah, his oldest sons, held court in Beersheba. 3 But
they were not like their father, for they were greedy for money. They accepted
bribes and perverted justice.
4 Finally, all the
elders of Israel met at Ramah to discuss the matter with Samuel. 5
“Look,” they told him, “you are now old, and your sons are not like you. Give
us a king to judge us like all the other nations have.”
6 Samuel was
displeased with their request and went to the LORD for guidance. 7
“Do everything they say to you,” the LORD replied, “for it is me they are
rejecting, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer. 8
Ever since I brought them from Egypt they have continually abandoned me and
followed other gods. And now they are giving you the same treatment. 9
Do as they ask, but solemnly warn them about the way a king will reign over
them.”

So Samuel passed on the LORD’s warning to the people who were asking him for a
king. 11 “This is how a king will reign over you,” Samuel said. “The
king will draft your sons and assign them to his chariots and his charioteers,
making them run before his chariots. 12 Some will be generals and
captains in his army, some will be forced to plow in his
fields and harvest his crops, and some will make his weapons and chariot
equipment. 13 The king will take your daughters from you and force
them to cook and bake and make perfumes for him. 14 He will take
away the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to
his own officials. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and your
grape harvest and distribute it among his officers and attendants. 16
He will take your male and female slaves and demand the finest of your cattle
and donkeys for his own use. 17 He will demand a tenth of your
flocks, and you will be his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will
beg for relief from this king you are demanding, but then the LORD will not
help you.”
19 But the people
refused to listen to Samuel’s warning. “Even so, we still want a king,” they
said. 20 “We want to be like the nations around us. Our king will
judge us and lead us into battle.”
21 So Samuel repeated
to the LORD what the people had said, 22 and the LORD replied, “Do
as they say, and give them a king.” Then Samuel agreed and sent the people
home.
Are we, today, mirror images of the
Israelites of the Old Testament? In my opinion I would argue that we are
closer to the Israelites of the Old Testament than the followers of Jesus and
the Christians of the New Testament.
Ron Paul, a devout Baptist, was booed
and heckled in a recent debate when he argued the United States follow the
"Golden Rule" as taught by Jesus, when dealing with other nations. The ironic thing is that
among his most rabid opposition, it is the evangelicals and Christian Right who
attack him relentlessly. Instead of embracing his Old Right policy of
non-interventionism (which was a foundation of the Republican party before the
Right was betrayed by the ex-democrat Neo-Conservatives during the cold war),
peace and non-aggression as taught in the Holy Bible, they support the
candidates that have said time and time again that they will continue the
policy of circumventing the Constitution to continue the warfare state and even
start more unnecessary wars based on executive edict! Hardly the policy I
could imagine Jesus Christ subscribing to.
I've realized after watching and
analyzing the political climate around the United States that the past few
generations of Americans have been bred and indoctrinated in our public schools
to reject liberty in all forms. Those civics classes that we are required
to take in high school may teach about how our government works but that is not
really how it works in practice. Checks and balances have given way to a
powerful executive; more powerful than even King George of Britain was when we
chose to sever our ties with his empire in 1776. I read somewhere once
that our government school system is considered a failure by the parents and
students who are shackled to its whims, the government, however, sees the
public school system as a complete success. After all, it wasn't always
the state's position to be involved in the education of our children.
Many of the first proponents of state sponsored education already had an agenda
in mind, which the government promotes in our schools today. William T. Harris, U.S. Commissioner of
Education in the late 1800s had this to say, "Our schools have been
scientifically designed to prevent over-education from happening. The
average American should be content with their humble role in
life..." Ellwood P. Cubberley, former superintendent of San Diego
schools and Dean of Stanford University School of Education from the late 19th
to the early 20th Century stated with no remorse, "Only a system of
state-controlled schools can be free to teach whatever the welfare of the state
demands." Finally, John Dewey, a
philosopher, and education reformer who's writings and ideas helped foment the
present day public school system put it bluntly that, "The children who
know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society
which is coming, where everyone would be interdependent."
Is it not a surprise that
our government schools, molded by the ideas of men such as these, have been
pushing out sheep for generations, subservient to the state and antithetic to
the ideas of liberty without even realizing it?
The current candidacy of
Ron Paul has shown that those who are among his most outspoken supporters are
those who have realized what is happening to our liberties. Those that
are free thinking individuals, that sit down and read and EDUCATE THEMSELVES.
Those who aren't dependent on the state run media machine that is network and
cable news. Those that have read and actually understand the simple
document that is our Constitution and the law of the land. If you ever
see a Ron Paul supporter debating with a supporter of Obama, Romney or any
other authoritarian, it is always one sided. Those who are usually on the
side of liberty show an apparent and authentic respect for our founding
documents to include the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers. The young
citizens of this nation are turning out in droves to support Ron Paul and the
liberty movement. If Dr. Paul fails to win this nomination, in the end,
he has still done more for the cause of liberty than any other person has in my
lifetime at least! I see a bright future and the return to sound money
and the principles of liberty as espoused by Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine,
Patrick Henry and those other patriots who broke from the shackles of the
tyranny of the British Empire and founded our Republic. I am very
encouraged and don't feel it to be a stretch of the imagination to witness the
restoration of our American Republic in my lifetime and the reverse of course
from a crumbling Empire.
This non-violent revolution
is not about one man. Although it is this man that has brought the ideas
in the spotlight. Whether his campaign ends walking through the doors of
the oval office or in Tampa, Florida is not of importance. Although the
former will help bring about the change we need in a more expedited manner, the
flame has already been lit.
As Samuel Adams once said,
"It does not require a majority to prevail... but rather an irate,
tireless minority, keen on setting brush fires of freedom in the minds of
men."
This statement cannot be truer
today...
